Arvind Kejriwal to move to a 5-bedroom duplex house

CNN-IBN | 03-Jan-2014 16:22 PM

New Delhi: After having refused a bungalow, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has finally decided to move into a five-bedroom duplex house in Delhi. Kejriwal's current move is likely to provide ammunition to the Opposition to target him, as they had already hit out at his austerity measures in the past.
Earlier, Delhi Chief Secretary DM Sapolia had proposed a bungalow for Kejriwal as the Chief Minister, to which he had said no.
Kejriwal, who had also refused security cover, lives in Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh with his family. "Thank you for offering me the security. But as I already informed earlier, I don't need any security. I don't need any escort or PSO. God is my biggest security. However I would be grateful if some help is provided for crowd management at a few places where i get mobbed," he wrote in his letter to the Additional Commissioner of Police.
Kejriwal has also made it clear that no AAP MLA will take a red beacon car and will carry themself as an 'aam aadmi'.
The working style of AAP government has come under criticism of political pundits and the Opposition but the party has gained momentum within the public. Within days of forming the government, Kejriwal has delivered two major promises - 700 litres of free water daily and slashed power tariff by 50 per cent.
Kejriwal took oath as the Delhi Chief Minister on December 28, 2013 at Ramlila Maidan, the nerve centre of the Anna Hazare-led anti-corruption agitation in 2011 and won the confidence motion on January 2, 2014.

  • From Arvind Facebook page

Many ordinary supporters were hurt by houses identified for me by delhi govt. As i have always said, i am no one. I am for their service. In accordance with their wishes, I give up these houses and will ask delhi govt to look for smaller house...but friends, i wud need to have two adjacent houses, one of them as an office. Else i wud become ineffective. But friends, controversy arnd govt transport used by ministers is not rt. Ministers hv to use govt transprt for their work and we never ever said that we won't use govt transprt. We said we won't use lal battis. And we stand by that. Lot of people have worked v hard and selflessly for this political revolution. I will try my best not to let their sacrifice go in vain

BJP slams Arvind Kejriwal for meeting cleric Tauqeer Raza

Not just the BJP but many other party along with Congress started accusing Arvind Kejriwal for muslim appeasement and showed it was the greatest sin to meet with muslim cleric Tauqeer Raza.

Accusation on Tauqeer Raza - Invoked Kanpur Hindu Muslim riots
Issue fatwa against Bangladeshi writer Tasleema Nasreen to kill her.

Who is Tauqeer Raza -

Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, President of All India Muslim Personal Law Board Jadid and Ittehad-e-Millat Council.
In protest against the raging communal violence in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining districts, Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, a prominent leader of the Barlevi sect of Sunni Muslims, resigned from the post of Advisor to the State Government on Handloom and Textiles – a post which accorded him the status of Minister of State.
Maulana Tauqeer is the younger brother of Maulana Subhan Raza Khan, the sajjaada (administrator) of ‘Dargah Alaa Hazrat’, the founder of the Barlevi Sunni sect of Islam. The dargah is the most revered place for millions of Sunni Muslims of the Indian subcontinent, including Pakistan and Bangladesh. He also heads a political party, Ittehade Millet Council (IMC), which has an alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP).

Clarification - He is not a mufti and only a mufti can issue Fatwa. He is a Maulana and he can not issue any fatwa.
