RIL threatens to sue AAP government over gas pricing allegations

New Delhi: Reliance Industries Limited has threatened to take the Aam Aadmi Party government to court over its allegations on gas pricing. This came after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered an FIR against RIL Chairperson Mukesh Ambani as well as Union Ministers Veerappa Moily and Murli Deora.
"The complaint and each of the allegations on the basis of which the Delhi government has taken such action are completely baseless and devoid of any merit or substance whatsoever. We deny these irresponsible allegations and propose to resort to the available legal remedies to protect our reputation and preserve the pioneering efforts and investments made by Reliance so far," RIL said in a statement.

Kejriwal has accused the Government of India of colluding with Reliance Industries Limited and increasing the price of gas from $4.2 per million British Thermal Unit to $8. The matter incidentally is in court, but that doesn't stop Kejriwal from taking on the corporate houses and politicians.

"The complaint and each of the allegations on the basis of which the Delhi government has taken such action are completely baseless," RIL has said.

Kejriwal also said that he will write to the Prime Minister for probe into the case and will ask him to take back gas wells from RIL. "I will write letters to the Prime Minister and Veerappa Moily to look into the matter. The central government should take back gas wells from RIL," he said.

Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily said, "It is not the question of Mukesh or Deora. He should know that there is a certain system for fixing prices."

The Delhi government said it acted on a complaint by four people - former Cainet Secretary TSR Subramanian, former IAS officer EAS Sarma, noted Supreme Court lawyer Kamini Jaiswal and retired Navy Chief Admiral RH Tahliani.
