Total bandh in Kolhapur a day after toll booths were vandalised by Shiv Sena

Kolhapur: The Shiv Sena has called for a total bandh in Kolhapur to protest toll collection at nine toll posts on Monday. No incidents of violence has been reported so far.

But there were violent protests with toll booths vandalised on Sunday in Kolhapur. Some toll booths were even set on fire.

The Shiv Sena has been on warpath since toll collection resumed at toll posts despite an assurance from the state government to the contrary. The state had said toll collection would be stopped and the money would be recovered from the Kolhapur municipal corporation and given to the private companies managing the posts.
