New Delhi: The anti-corruption helpline on it's first day received an overwhelming response from city-dwellers, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday.However, due the deluge of calls, only 824 calls could be responded to, he said.
Of the calls, 53 were of serious corruption cases, he added.
Kejriwal said people have conducted "quality" sting operations for which he congratulated them.
He said 38 people agreed to conduct sting operations.
Informing about a slew of anti-corruption measures in the pipeline, he said that the public grievance system would be in place by Saturday. “A four-digit anti-corruption helpline number will be available from tomorrow onwards,” he said.
And from the day after, every Saturday Delhi ministers will speak to the aam janta. “Every Saturday from 9:30 am to 11 am we'll sit outside the Assembly to solve public grievances with no middlemen,” he said.
The Delhi CM said that the anti-corruption helpline was not accessible to the media and there was a reason behind it. “We don't want the call centre to be accessible to any corrupt ministers in case they want to infiltrate,” he said.
Regarding tackling water shortage in areas that only get their fill via tankers, he said, “We have enabled water tankers to be available at a designated place and time in places with no water pipeline. We will put out numbers of water tanker drivers on the Internet. You can bug them if they don't come to your locality on time.”
He said the government was keeping a tab on scheduled and unscheduled power cuts in different areas of the capital and discoms would be help responsible for inconvenience caused to the public.
He said the draft of the Jan Lokpal Bill would be ready soon. “We will try to pass Lokayukta by last week of January,” he summed up.
