New Delhi: Hours after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Vinod Kumar Binny criticised the party and called Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a "dictator", the new political outfit said that it feels saddened with the allegations and accused the newly elected MLA of putting his personal ambition before the people's hopes and expectations.
Addressing a press conference here, AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said Binny was upset and making "baseless accusations" against the party as he was denied a Cabinet berth and a ticket for 2014 General Elections.
Hinting that Binny might have aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Yadav said Binny raised the same issues, which opposition leader Dr Harsh Vardhan had put forward.
"Today when Binny was speaking, it seemed that he was reading a script given to him by someone else. He has raised all those issue which the Leader of the Opposition Harsh Vardhan has been raising for the past few days,” Yadav said.
Yadav said that there were many party forums where Binny could have raised his issues, but he wished to speak to the media. "The party's Political Affairs Committee will initiate disciplinary action against Binny and accordingly a show cause notice will be issued to him," Yadav asserted.
Yadav, who is a key member of AAP and is involved in decision making process said that party members could have different opinion but the party will not tolerate indiscipline. “We have 1.5 million members till date it is wrong
Terming all the accusations made by his party colleague as false, Yadav questioned Binny's silence when decisions were taken during party meetings. “Binny should not put personal ambition before the people's hopes and expectations,” Yadav exhorted.
Binny today accused AAP of "cheating" the people of Delhi by backtracking on its election promises and called Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a "dictator".
"You (Kejriwal) have become a dictator. Stop fooling the people of Delhi. All decisions in the party are taken in closed rooms by four-five people. Arvind gets angry if people express any differences with him. If anyone speaks against him, he starts shouting," Binny said.
The 39-year-old-MLA said the party has "forgotten" its ideologies and become "an opportunist outfit" after coming to power.
He even attacked the party and the government for backtracking on the promises made, including in the water and power sectors. He promised that if he is found to be lying, he would resign as MLA.
"I will start an agitation 10 days later on Jan 27, at Jantar Mantar, if the government does not fulfil the promises made to the people of Delhi," said the AAP legislator at a press conference here.
